WHO WE ARE
STEADY has several scientific goals that largely focus on the development and treatment of emotion dysregulation.
We are interested in the environmental factors that shape the development of emotion regulation in early adolescence, such as parenting styles, low income disparities, and other family risk factors.
Furthermore, we are interested in learning the ways in which interventions, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Training, effectively treat emotion regulation.
HOW WE DO IT
DEDICATION & COLLABORATION
The goal of our laboratory is to be among the most successful and respected in the area of emotional and personality development. Our ultimate goals are to help develop better (1) prevention strategies that deflect risk away from psychopathology toward optimal health and (2) interventions for psychopathology that allow for full recovery. To this end, we will collaborate with other researchers in the area and share our results. We will be recognized for being fair and collegial in our research.
Our research staff recognizes the vital importance of participants in our studies, and are dedicated to treating each mother and child with the utmost dignity, respect, care, and confidentiality when they choose to participate in our studies.
Our lab recognizes the importance of new researchers in the world of psychological research. Another main focus of the lab is to train the next generation of passionate and competent future scientists. To achieve this, the STEADY lab encourages an environment which is conductive to learning and testing new skills.
